I getting miffed off with mine Dave - maybe you could have that one! I keep missing turns due to lag at just the wrong time, and it also needs recharging after just 1 hour of operation. Which BT device would I be best off with for car nav? Can I use a non BT gps with my ipaq 1940 as it only has the port on the bottom for sync / charging etc. I understand I cannot use the X5 due to lack of ports. Confused

Hey if you want to donate it, we sure wouldn't say no. I'm chasing up my contact today to see if we can get a movement on this.

1 Hour certainly isn't good and should last much longer than that. Personally I like the Emtac/Socket and the Holux GR-230 for in-car use.

AFAIK you won't be able to use a non-BT device with any of the 19xx range.

wizy - when your battery runs low do you get any indication on the lamps? The manual says the battery light should falsh or come on but I get nothing, just a dead unit that wont work until it's plugged in again. I am waiting for a reply from Riklaline uk but nothing yet. Crying or Very sad

I've got a spare battery with mine. Having tested both batteries I can report the following:

Battery 1
I recharged it completely and checked it was working. Checked it once a day until it died. It lasted 2.5 days in a dormant state.

Battery 2
Recharged completely. Battery 2 lasted less than 3 days in dormant state.

In addition, Battery 1 failed to charge at all unless I removed it from the unit first and then re-installed it.

The product documentation clearly states:

'The battery will run out of power itself after 114 days (2,750 hours) if it gets no recharge. You may take the battery out if no use for long time.'

Hmm.... May be this is why Rikaline are reluctant for Dave to review?! i.e. their product is not as good as they claim???

Wizy I think you may be right. Rikaline should really start answering their emails as I have been waiting weeks now. I wonder if sending a link from this forum to the far east Rikaline HQ will prompt some replies? Maybe they will then realise that there are a few miffed off customers in the UK who would like to know why their receivers die after a very short period of usage. I could live with the slight delay if only the damn battery would last more than 1.5 hours. The battery seems to be a mobile phone type - anyone know which phone it's from? I doubt Rikaline commissioned a totally bespoke battery for this unit. Does anyone out there get a long battery life with their X7?

i'm also having the same battery issues with my X7, as is a friend who bought his at same time. Had it on charge over the entire weekend, used it for about 4 hours of driving on the monday, came to use it on the tuesday and it was dead.

Its staying dead for the time being too, i've gone back to my CF card Laughing

The fortuna has more advantages than the X7 and is about the same price on ebay!

- Still has a rechargeable battery (about 8 hours quoted use) and can switch the unit off.
- Selectable ST/XT modes so no problems when driving.
- V.small footprint and comes with all the accessories as standard.

I'm very satisfied with mine!
