|
|
An increasing number of Garmin users have devices that support only .wav format POI alerts and their is a rumour that Garmin will be defaulting to that as the standard format moving forwards.
And so I'm looking to offer our Garmin alerts in .wav format via the download page.
But to save me re-inventing the wheel, if any of you have gone through the conversion process and have working .wav versions of any of our voice alerts, could I ask for copies to be sent to me?
It will save a lot of work and allow me to get as many of the current .mp3 voice alert sets available to download in .wav.
Thanks _________________ Darren Griffin |

Are you sure? The only WAV conversion related to is in the first post where the OP says he has converted to WAV.
Anyway, isn't our resident noise machine geek AndyP? _________________ Dennis

I use a piece of software called Audacity, dowloadable for free off the web. Amongst its many functions it converts mp3 files into a number of different formats including .wav. Seems to work flawlessly to me. |

Andy usually recommends Audacity too and even I have used it successfully!!
But I think Darren is looking to find somebody who has already used it (or something else) to convert our normal voice files to save him or someone the effort - it's time consuming more than anything, I think, because if I can use Audacity, it can't be difficult! He's looking for somebody who has already converted them and they actually do work on a Garmin. _________________ Dennis

I only recommend it because it's free!
Actually I find it quite confusing to use... I prefer to use Adobe Audition (which was originally called "Cool Edit").
But the latest versions are getting really expensive so I'm still on an old copy. |
