I recently bought a new ( albeit old stock) 730 from Currys and updated my map online via TomTom. Question is this. Can I put the same maps from the 730 onto my old 720 which has given good service and is still OK. I work abroad so the 730 is a 'spare' ( or vice versa) but many roads are missing on the 720. Any ideas??? |

Off the top of my head, I would say no, I believe the maps are linked to individual registered devices.
To prevent piracy I would think.

Bob is right. See this thread where someone else has tried to do something similar. |

Thanks for your replies. I did suspect as much but thought the Forum experds would know definitively. The old 720 is still fully OK. Having had a new battery around 18 months ago.
Is anyone else like me i npreferring the old 'blade' type of mount to the new circular click in type. My friend has one and it keeps falling out. Backward step it seems. |

Not sure what mounts you're referring to here....
What's the "blade type"? The 730 has a square on the mount that slips into a slot and I don't see any way that can slip out.
Or are you talking about the large ring used on the "easyport" mounts on the "ONE" and "XL" models? If so I agree, they are a nice idea in theory but useless in practice.
Those have disappeared again on the more recent models. |
