Please can anyone help
I have a Nuvi 1240, Camera Manager V3 full version and have managed to install the icons and voices successfully.
The problem I have concerns the overspeed warning.
Should it only sound when going too fast (like the Talex I used to use) or does it go off whenever you approach a camera regardless of speed?
At the moment if "Seperate out Approach and Overspeed warnings" is ticked I get a bong and if unticked I get a repeat of the initial camera warning both regardless of speed.
I created my own PocketGPS_SC_Overspeed.wav file (saying "Slow Down") but the above happened, then created files such as PocketGPS_SC_Gatso_Sixty_S_Overspeed.wav and still the above happened.
I have Camera Manager set as
Sort by camera type and speed limit
Add speed camera direction warning
Add Overspeed margin 0% + 2 MPH
and tried both versions of "Seperate out Approach and Overspeed warnings"
Files look like
PocketGPS_SC_Gatso_Sixty_S.bmp
PocketGPS_SC_Gatso_Sixty_S.gpx
PocketGPS_SC_Gatso_Sixty_S.wav
&
PocketGPS_SC_Gatso_Sixty_S_Overspeed.wav
With "Separate Approach/Overspeed Warnings" disabled, the overspeed warnings for each location will be in the same file/category as the approach warning.
If you have a voice warning set up, you will hear this twice - once for the approach, and then again for the overspeed (regardless of actual speed).
If you are then exceeding the overspeed limit, you will then hear a series of reminder "pings" until you drop below the overspeed limit.
Hopefully this example makes it clearer:
"Mobile speed camera, 30, south" <- Approach warning
"Mobile speed camera, 30, south" <- Overspeed warning (regardless of speed)
"Ping, ping, ping" <- if going too fast
---
With "Separate Approach/Overspeed Warnings" enabled, the overspeed warnings for all locations will be in a single "Overspeed" file/category.
Again, if you have a voice warning set up you will hear this for the approach - but not for the overspeed, as this is now a different file/category (so you could have a different voice warning for this if required).
However, note that the overspeed "ping" is provided by the Garmin voice (and not Camera Manager's warning) so you could use GarTool to change this if required.
Using our example again:
"Mobile speed camera, 30, south" <- Approach warning
"Bong" <- Overspeed warning (regardless of speed), could supply voice warning for this
"Ping, ping, ping" <- if going too fast
---
What you could do is provide an overspeed voice warning that is silent (with separate warnings enabled) - then you should get:
"Mobile speed camera, 30, south" <- Approach warning
"{silence}" <- Overspeed warning (regardless of speed)
"Ping, ping, ping" <- if going too fast
Again, you could use GarTool to change the "ping, ping, ping" into "slow down!", or something similar.
Thanks for reply & for sending full version of Camera Manager recently.
As I am a bit new to this am I changing the Bong & Ping sounds on the actual Garmin or
creating new voice files to add to the ones in the Camera Manager download.
