My 720 start up screen - ever seen this?

It never rains...

Anyone ever seen this on a TT720? I wonder if it means the battery is knackered and thus despite being on power cannot run. A reset then pushing start button fires it up, plays TT music and shows the logo and then brings up this screen? Any thoughts?

That's the developer screen, it is normally possible to access that by some method which escapes me. However, if you cannot get it to boot normally then there is a problem but it isn't battery Confused

Might be worth trying the clearflash utility.

That screen usually appears after holding the power button for a very long time on startup.

Think it could be the power button stuck down - but internally. A reset turns it off. Power turns it on BUT it does not get seen by the computer so you cannot connect. Suspect may have to take it apart and see what I can see...

That screen will come on with every model if you hold the power button and keep holding it, maybe 30 seconds or so.

So, it seems the power button is sticking in the down position when you press it.

Got any WD-40 in Oz? Smile

That would make sense, but when you reset the unit it does come on again automatically. However, when I took it apart, the power microswitch was fine - or seemed to be, with a distinct click when in operation. No WD40 sprayed in but I did use compressed air to give it a good blast to see if that made a difference. Maybe WD40 is worth a shot.

Appearance wise the switch seemed fine and as I say, seemed to have a clear differentiation between off and on.

Ok, only fair to update this when people have been helpful.

Taking unit apart and nothing was obvious. Googling seemed to indicate the power button was stuck down but actual button was fine and gave a noticeable click when pressed. However, everything else seemed fine so I took a gamble that the solder was dodgy in some place.

I then used my soldering iron to loosen each of the four points on the switch and then let each harden again. Because it dries so quickly the actual switch could not come off, but thought i would give it a go.

Back of the net! It worked. With the unit in pieces and screen attached, it started to boot up when connected. Put it all back together and it was fine too. Just tested it today and played with power button numerous times and all worked fine.

One unit back to normal with a lot of luck it has to be said. But maybe this will help someone in the future. Thanks to all...

Brilliant! Thanks for posting to update us. It's a first as far as I'm aware for that issue but always good to know of a potential fix for reference albeit few will be equipped or brave enough to attempt it!
