TomTom 950 - tapping screen

When I am planning a route using Itinerary Planning I often have to select points on the route and move then up/down,change them to/from waypoints or mark them visited.

However occasionally when I try to select a point I sometimes find that it (and maybe other points on route) are marked "as visited" (greyed out).

How have I done this and are there any other short cuts worth knowing?

If you mark a waypoint in the middle of the list as "visited" the the programme assumes that the previous waypoints have also been visited.
