I am supposed to be going to Nottingham on Sunday, so I programmed it in to my Tomtom one xl, latest maps and software, and apparently there is no route available, I can go from Nottingham to Coventry but it wont find a route from Coventry to Nottingham, any ideas

I programmed from my home location to Nottingham city centre, and got no route found, but if I go into google maps and type an address in the city centre i Nottingham it works fine.

More info please.....
What 'Navigate to...' option are you using?
City Centre?
Point on Map?
Address?
Recent Destination?
POI?
Favourite?
etc.

It can have significance....

Tell us exactly what you are doing, and we can try to replicate it.

It makes no difference if I use advanced planning or real time planning or recent destinations.

First thought.... has Nottingham city centre been pedestrianised?

This has been seen before with POIs that are placed away from actual roads.

Hi jagx400
I often make delivers to addresses in Nottingham and always use my Tomtom without mishap. I don’t know your actual destination in Nottingham but try another one and see what happens

Hmm, well on my 720 with v7 software and v715 Western and Central Europe map, it DOES find a route to Nottingham City Centre, so it looks like it might be a map specific problem OR maybe a dodgy MapShare correction you've got that has "shut" the city centre?

What map have you got? Can you switch Mapshare off (Main menu page 2 / Map corrections / Correction preferences - untick all the boxes) then try it again.

Also, try Browse Map / Find / City Centre and see where it is trying to go to. On my map it is a point on Upper Parliament street, but it is right next to some pedestrianised roads (shown dotted).

I think the quick answer is: don't use "city centre" to navigate to, always try a specific address. I know that if you try a route "via" a city centre, it doesn't actually go there, often it just skirts round on the by-pass, so there's SOMETHING funny about "city centre".

You guys are good, I did as you said, turned off mapshare corrections and I can now get to Nottingham city centre, thinks I will leave mapshare alone from now on and only trust the corrections I make

OH, Nice!! I tried nav to city centre Nottingham and got No Route Found.

I turned off "Corrections verified by TomTom" and it navigated there.

Ye Gods and little fishes - I only had my own plus TT verified corrections. I thought Mike was slightly exaggerating when he says Mapshare degrades your map, but obviously he isn't. And here was I looking forward to the next new map. If only we could go back to v660 but with the new congestion charge zone. Evil or Very Mad

Another thing you could try is setting MapShare to only use the corrections which YOU make.

I'm not convinced that MapShare is such a good idea because this kind of thing may happen either accidentally or maliciously and even if you have the "verified by TomTom" selected, it just seems to shove in the corrections.

Road changes are one thing, but the speed limit changes are sooooo fiddly that it's just asking for trouble.

Now, I don't know Nottingham but the "City Centre" is on Upper Parliament St on the map. This has been blocked via mapshare which could be right as there's a lot of bus stops there so it could be buses only now.

If so, it the positioning of the City Centre point that needs changing - the map correction could be valid. Anyone from Nottingham care to verify? Embarassed

Of course, the aerial images show cars going both ways where the TT base map has a one-way section. Rolling Eyes

I live just outside Nottingham and the roads in the city centre can be a bit of a 'mare! Off the top of my head I couldn't actually tell you where exactly you can drive around Upper Parliament Street, but there are a number of bus only parts around there and extensive roadworks going on at the moment. Basically, I try to avoid the very centre. Once you approach the centre, the directions to the carparks are easy to follow, but I must admit that TomTom navigation around here isn't good because a lot of roads have had changed priorities in recent years. Navigation to the carparks at the Victoria Centre, Broadmarsh and Fletcher Gate is OK, but to some of the others can be a bit more dodgy. I'd try to be more specific in entering your destination.

I have had a similar problem.
I tried to navigate to Brighton city centre and got no route found. I asked TomTom Support about it who replied that they needed my map version and they would look into it.
I'm hoping to get a reply tomorrow. Rolling Eyes

Nothing like hoping. Joker But they don't work Saturdays and Sundays (and if Monday happens to be a bank holiday anywhere in Europe, they won't work that day either).
