At a place where sneaky-beaky speed camera vans used to lurk they have carved out a van length lay-by from the pavement.
It really is only the length of a van and marked "Police"
Never seen one before and don't know what it is apart from a designated police parking spot.
It near real speed cameras so, unless it's like the plods have designated parking spots on the motorways, I just don't know.
But I know a forum that will. _________________ VEGETARIAN

Very possibly just a hard standing so that the fixed cameras can be visited and serviced?
But if, as you say it has been a haunt for speed camera vans, was this before the fixed cameras were installed? If not, then may be a hard standing for them to operate from?
Where is it? _________________ Darren Griffin |

TBH Darren, I think your idea of it being a camera servicing point is probably bang on.
Halifax Road 'tween Todmorden and Hebden Bridge (Fountain St/Woodhouse Rd) . It is virtually ten yards from one of the two fixed cameras on your database.
I think marking it "Police" makes it slightly less sneaky-beaky.
Just wanted to add to your database.
I'll find one. _________________ VEGETARIAN

Funny that, I overtook some slow guy going down a hill and just as I was turning in front of the vehicle I noticed a police van parked 20m further down with what looked like a square array unit setup (aimed at us) at the back of the van. Haven't received a ticket though as I was not speeding! Was it a speed detector? _________________ Thanks for your time. |

Probably an ANPR van. There's one on the A40 every so often under the Target roundabout. Everyone thinks it is for speed cameras - so provokes dangerous braking - ah well... _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]
