I have some .chk files in the root of my TT 740. Can I just delete them, or are they needed? This is a complete list of folders and files. I wonder how many are really chaff and which are good. Is there a guide anywhere?

DO NOT DELETE any of the files if the device is working properly. Most are essential for the device to run.
If you need to delete anything from the device, it is safest to delete through TT Home (provided you have made an Explorer backup first). Voices in other languages are a good place to start.
However, if you aren't having any issues, I wouldn't even bother considering it. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

The .chk files mostly contain audio sounds the device uses, without these present on the unit it won't boot up so don't go deleting them, Windoze (spelling deliberate) is stupid and assumes .chk are broken files so wants to remove them - simply ignore what the computer is saying. Look in the "voices" folder and you will find lots more .chk files, these are the navigation voice files! - Mike |
