|

Just acquired Tom Tom Go 530T. Tom Tom are offering Speed Camera Database for 18 months for the 12 month price of £19.95. Can anyone tell me why I shouldn't accept this offer instead of the PocketGPSWorld Speed Camera Database ? |

Quantity, quality and accuracy of data.
The TT supplied data can be very inaccurate and out of date. PGPSW data is updated weekly using data supplied by its members. |

* free lifetime updates if you are the first to report a new, qualifying camera
* download any 'region' of cameras (uk, europe, usa, australia, asia, africa) not just one single country

Oh I dunno. If you think the TomTom cameras offer is a bargain, could I interest you in my special offer £27.36 (plus P&P) for a set of my handcrafted screen cleaner tool...
And my purpose-built reset tools?

As presumably the primary purpose of using such a database is to ensure you moderate your driving and do not speed through a speed camera site?
If so then, given TomToms database has many glaring omissions, cameras that have been in existence for in some cases, many years, then any small saving in the initial outlay would be massively outweighed by the very poor quality of the data.
Don't take my word for it either, many many users here have had the opportunity to run TomToms in parallel with ours and observed first hand just how bad the data is. _________________ Darren Griffin |

the main reason i opted for the data base off here is that TT cameras are only the fixed ones and i want mobile locations also |

According to the TomTom database on one of my device I was speeding through Specs cameras on three seperate stretches of the M6 today, some of these cameras were removed over 12 months ago and I have even notified them of this fact - The latest data set from them is now some 15 months out of date as far as the M6 is concerned - Glad to report my other toys in the car were running the database from here and were spot on.
Choice is yours at the end of the day, I only load up the TT database from time to time to see if its getting any better and today was yet another classic fail - Mike |

Thanks to Rick-uk, MaFt, Darren, snipperuk and mikealder for your positive and informative responses. Collectively you have persuaded me to choose the PocketGPSWorld Speed Camera Database.
A special thanks to DennisN for his most generous offer. Although very tempted, even, as M8TJT points out, a bit pricey, I feel I must decline as I am not very technically-minded and fear I would not be able to switch them on !

Good to hear. If you have any issues with the install, please do post back explaining where you get stuck and we'll be here to walk you through it.
Install guides are here and it is all pretty straight forward involving little more than the ability to unzip a file and copy the contents. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Please yerself. BUT you should be aware that M8TJT is a completely unreliable sort of person, whose recommendations count for naught. You have turned down the opportunity of some quality gear at an incredible price there. The special offer is now discontinued. _________________ Dennis

There is a rumour that they are dubious copies actually manufactured in china and available in any pound shop in packs of a hundred each. _________________ Moto G5s Plus, Sygic 17.4.8 |
