|
|
I have just downloaded and installed the speed camera database onto my new Garmin 1390T sat nav device. However, I am not sure if it is working correctly. I have the device set to sound audible alerts for the pocket GPS data (Custom POI's in the Garmin options screen) and I made sure I followed all the steps in the pocket GPS video tutorial. With this in mind, I set off for work with great expectations. However, the only thing I noticed on my route was what looked like tiny camera symbols (there are no fixed cameras at the locations where the symbols were showing). There were no audible or visual alert messages. I thought it might be because I was driving without a planned route, so I set up a route before setting off home. It didn't make any difference. There are a few fixed cameras in the city centre, so I'll try driving past those some time during the next few days and see what happens. Any comments on what I have said? |

Hi and welcome.
The tiny camera symbols may have been Mobile camera locations. These are not always there as you probably know.
Secondly the Garmin database generally only sounds if you are over the speed limit as you approach the camera. If you were under the limit you'll probably get no sound. |

I have confirmed that the chime alerts are working, but unfortunately the Vicki (?) voice prompts I downloaded do not. Does anyone else have a Garmin 1390T that they have tried with the voice prompts? |

Does the 1390 have an mp3 player? If not you need to use wav versions of the mp3 files.
I'm going to edit the title and move this to the Garmin PND forum where it'll get more attention. |

I don't think it has an mp3 player, so I'll convert the files to wav as you suggest and try that.
Does anyone know whether the downloadable icons are compatible with this device abd if so, which set? |

Also have a read through this thread which should give some pointers. You might need the sox.exe file too.. |
