Hi
I just received an Emtac sleeve for my Ipaq 3630. Installed it, CF card installed ok, Tomtom 3 installed ok, Every thing works. BUT I can't log onto the satellites. On the Tomtom GPS program the radar dances back and forth but locks up at 2002 11 10 00:01:49 after aprox 1 minute it goes to 2002 11 09 23:59:50 and carries on to the 01:49 again. This cycle goes over and over. I have done it for at least 1 hour to cover 1st boot set up.
When I use the Crux view I get the same time scale cycle, I notice in the Message window there are signals being negotiated.
We live at the top of Huddersfield uk, no trees tall buildings etc.
Regards

What settings are you using in the GPS Driver? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Many thanks for your come back
The Emtac says no drivers required.
I have tomtom 3.02. I have set it up on Com 4 @4600 baud as per the instructions that came with with the "crux view". The crux view instructions are very vague and as such I have not made any more alterations whilst in this program. Does the "Crux view" programe make any permanant alterations to the Emtec or are the alterations just for the "Crux view" test program?
However on the tomton GPS the options are set at Emtac Gpsjaq in both drop down boxes and the tick is selected. As with my original posting the little satellite does go backwards and forwards till it gets to 1:49 whilst in the status view.
With regards profile I will sort that out forthwith.
Many regards

Well you have the correct Port and Baud rates in Crux View, I haven't used one for a while but Emtac GPSJaq sounds right and the fact that you have the scolling dots indicates communication.
Can you try soft-resetting before you launch the TomTom GPS Applet (don't launch TomTom, just the GPS Applet) and what version of TomTom's GPS Driver are you using 3.02 is the latest? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I am using the latest versions I downloaded them from Tomtom direct version 3.02 confirmed install.
It's this stopping everytime when it gets to 1:49 that puzzles me. Could it be a duff sleeve they sent me?
Its nearly bedtime now I will try the reboot in the morning when I can get outside. I dont suppose reception would be available in the house.
Regards

There will be no reception inside but it shouldn't stop the receiver trying!
I have to say that is a soft reset doesn't help then it looks like it may be a duff jacket _________________ Darren Griffin |

I was worried all along that that Ipaq 3630 would not be up to the job.
However I have just been to a friends shop he also has Ipaq/Emtac/TomTom.
He tried my sleeve = Zippo
I tried his sleeve = everything perfect
Deduction send back for exchange, I bought it off the internet from Expansys. I hope they are as good at exchange as their next day delivery. They were not very good on the phone they refered me back to their Forum.
Many thanks
