Please excuse my ignorance I'm new to this.
I live just outside Wrexham in North Wales and I was wondering if you have a map of the speed cameras that you have added to your data base. Especially in my area. The reason I ask is. I've just joined PocketGPSworld and downloaded some of the speed camera data on to my Garmin nuvi sat nav. as I'm passing some of the speed camera's in my area nothing happens!..... |

Hi Jad,
Not a Garmin user so can't help you at all in that respect.
But, if you click on the "WE NEED YOU" icon to the left of your post, it will take you to the page to add/alter etc cameras. It is Google maps, so you can zoom in to your location and you will be able to see what cameras there are in the database. Or for any other location for that matter.
They will be in the file you downloaded, but you probably need a little advice on how to extract the file and where to load it.
One of the Mods, or a garmin user wil come along and tell you what to do.

what garmin do you have? you may need to go to settings, proximity alerts and then tick the box for 'custom pois' in order to get the warnings.

Thanks Bob. That's just what I needed.
Looked at the Google map. And what camera's that are on the data base in my area. Now realise that my Garmin nuvi is more than likely working OK and that I have loaded the speed data correctly. Well I hope so!
The main reason I asked the question in the first place is. I was driving through an area yesterday which has lots of Mobile camera warning signs and nothing showed up on my sat nav. Now having looked at the Google map. I now realise they are not on the data base map so that's more than likely why they didn't show up..
Regards
John |

We only log active camera van sites, not signs. But of course if you see a North Wales Drive Alive van in operation, let us know via the submissions page.
The A5 between Wrexham and Oswestry is a favourite as is the Shrewsbury by-pass. I'm from Llandudno so drive it often enough. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi MaFt.
Its A Garmin nuvi 200w
I've checked the custom POI and the box has been checked.
To be honest I think it more than likely me. I'm a bit long in the tooth. 70 next week...... ![Wink](modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

To check if the cameras are loaded correctly in your nuvi, you can try browsing around your area on the map to where the cameras should be. Zoom in to,say, 300 feet and you should see the camera icon.
Or, press Where to .. Extras .. Custom POIs and then select an appropriate category of PocketGPS camera listed there. It should return a nice list of the nearest cameras in that category.
Hope this helps narrow things down.
