Well, more of a workaround than a fix;
From Navigator, goto properties and choose the POI tab. Take the tick out of the "Show points of interest" box and test!
Works for me, was getting the infamous BT dropout every minute or so until now.....

I have tried it with GPS driver ver 2.07 and TT 3 and yes it has worked. I will re-install 3.02 and try that. |

If the POI fix worked for you can you clarify if you were only using the POI embedded in TT3 or if you had added any of your own? I have had problems in the past (TT2) with home grown POIs and the problems were related to the bitmap image for the POI icons. |

And for the record, do you use SD or CF Memory for your Map Storage? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I'm the same as Big_E. Safety camera POI, maps on a SimpleTech SD card. I re installed Ver3.02 driver, and have used it with no problems all morning. When I enabled the Show POI tick box, the drop outs started.
I have had this problem with only TomTom installed, no other POI's after a hard re-set. I have also used two different SD and CF cards, with the same drop outs. |

I ask because SD cards seem to be the common denominator here, I use CF with my 2210 and have never had this problem.
There is an SD Driver fix on HP's site for the 2210, may be worth trying as it may just be that TomTom 3 drives the SD interface a bit harder and makes the SD problem more apparent? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I have the SDIO driver update installed. I have been out with the GPS all day now, and only get the drop outs when I enable the show POI's.
As Big_E said not a fix, but at least I can now use the software. |

When enabled it is set to show open parking, parking garage, petrol station, pocketgps uk and railway station. I have not yet tried removing each one, to see if it is just one that causes the problems. |

I have Petrol, Open Parking, Speed Cameras, Clients (100+ entries), Mobile Speed Camera Sites, Land Rover, all the Supermarkets and a few more enabled on my 2210 with TT BT, 256 MB CF and don't have any issues, I'm curious as to what is the real factor here? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi hope this helps
I have had all the problems with tom tom 3 and just about 2 give up when i tried moving the uk maps from my SD card 2 CF card and tom tom started 2 work !!!!
I've used it all day and it still is working (No lockups).
I have the POI on that tom tom has and the speed cams as well.
Using Ver 3.01 ,gps ver 3.02
on a ipaq 2210 rom 1.10 with SD fix installed and a Bluetooth GPS Clipon.
But thanks for the POI tip ,I will try that if this stops working
PS Emailed Tom Tom 3 day ago and still no responce back |

I had Open Parking, Petrol & Railway stations plus Safety Camera file.
I would get a lockup/dropout every few minutes. Seems okay after removing POI tick although only tested on a few short journeys.

iPAQ 2210, Bluetooth Tomtom GPS Receiver
TTN3 with latest patch
GPS 3.02
Latest SDIO driver from HP
Latest Bluetooth driver from HP
Hide POI's - 90 mins driving, no dropouts
Show POI's - 5 mins driving, 18 dropouts
Hide POI's - Remianing 60 mins driving, no dropouts
This little 'fix' appears to work, I just made sure all drivers were up to date from the HP website and the Tomtom website
As an amusing aside
On this journey I drove past Lancaster (Forton) Services on the M6. In the hide map view TTN3 showed my location as Forton (Staffordshre). I would have thought that the Lanc in Lancaster would have given away which county I was in |

The part of the location in brackets being wrong is a bug dating back to at least Navigator 2 version 2.02 and quite possibly to Navigator 1 that still hasn't been fixed. It may relate to the deficiencies in the databases of both Navigator 2 and Navigator 3 to do with knowing which towns and cities are in what 'administrative areas' (Navigator 2) or counties (Navigator 3).
Suffice it to say that especially if there's two places with the same name (apart from the bit in brackets), the bit in brackets can be wrong. This is, fortunately, purely cosmetic.
