Hi everyone,
I'm a new member and a new TomTom owner so please be gnetle!
I have a TomTom go 750 and I'm using the zoned complete set with the Liz Whitaker voices. The voices were installed into the sound folder and all was working fine, until I updated the speed camera database. The voices are still showing up in the sound folder on my TomTom however they will not play anymore.
Any theories/answers?
Many Thanks,
Rob |

Have you tried setting up the Warn When Near POI option again as sometimes during an update the file that holds these settings gets wiped out by the device? - Mike |

Hi Mike,
Yes tried setting them up again but the voices do not play either during setup or when approaching speed cameras etc.
I will delete the files and reinstall them and see what happens.
Thanks,

there's been a bug for a long time that when setting up the voices won;t play - the scren will say 'is this the sound you want to use' - you just need to press 'yes' otherwise it goes all pear-shaped!

Hi,
The problem is they don't sound when approaching the speed cameras either.
Thanks,

The bug MaFt referred to only happens if your sounds are put in the (named) map folder. If you put them in the "sounds" folder, they SHOULD be available for previewing during the set-up.
It's always worth trying a reset or even a return to factory settings (from the preferences menu) if things don't behave.
Something must have gone amiss, so check you followed the instructions in "method 2" on THIS PAGE and it should work.
Alternatively, you can try "method 1" on the same page, where you put the files in the named map folder along with the camera data files themselves.
Note that as it mentions, using this method you DON'T get a chance to preview the sounds, they should be assigned to the right camera files automatically, so when you go through the set-up pages it seems a bit odd that you don't get to choose anything.
I have to emphasise that just updating the camera data files should never lose the pairing of the voice files, but updating OTHER things like the TomTom software will. So once you've got this glitch sorted out, it should hopefully be plain sailing next time you update the speed cameras. |
