I travel often to France, and for the last year or so have been using a TT 730T with TMC.
The TMC data for the Autoroutes is much more detailed and accurate than the UK equivalent.
Can anyone tell me how the Traffic and HD Taffic services in France compare with each other and with TMC?
I have a GPRS subscription on a French network, so data cost is not an issue. _________________ Tomtom Go 1005

For the HD services, take a look at the TT Route Planner and it will show you the detail of the current HD Traffic incidents in France so you can compare them to the TMC. If you have HD in the UK it now also covers you for France at no extra cost. _________________ Drivelux |

I would say that Live is marginally more detailed and uptodate than TMC in France, although I've only used it a few times since roaming on my 740 was enabled late. Both tend to mimic gantry signs on Autoroutes, but Live was reasonably good at reporting slow moving traffic over the last couple of days! _________________ Go740L App 9.510 Europe 985.8155

Can you tell me how you configured your TMC to work in France. This summer I used TMC all the way to Dover, but once on the other side it did not recognise the receiver - no sidebar and all the traffic options greyed out. While in France, a number of solutions were suggested on this forum, but nothing worked. On the way home, as soon as I landed at Dover the TMC sprang to life again

I took it out of the box and turned it on.
I have never configured anything to do with TMC.
I do remember your earlier post, and something seems strange. The TMC sidebar appears before the TT has satellite lock or TMC lock, so doesn't know which country it is in.
Maybe you could leave your TT switched on during the crossing next time, and note when the sidebars disappear? _________________ Tomtom Go 1005
