I've had this issue trying to download the latest mapset for GB & WE for my 930.
TTHome spends 15-odd minutes downloading the data then complains that the archive is invalid. Indeed, when I navigate to the .zip file it won't open in winzip, even though windows shows the file size as 2Gb.
I clicked on the 'report error' flag. Retried the download - but this wasn't pulling a new download from the server, just reporting on the current file.
So I deleted the download file's folder and tried again. It downloaded and reported a failure once more.
Did the same a couple of days later. Same results.
Finally raised a call with TomTom. Sent them the details of the error (quite long details). 12 hours later they send me a link to the fix...... "click the 'report error checkbox'
OK - I'm not here to rant about that reply
More, has anyone else suffered this? Any ideas how to overcome it? |

My map took somewhere around 4 or 5 hours to download as usual. I can't imagine it can be done correctly in 15 minutes. _________________ TT Go Essential |

Well, the answer seems to be that the file had not completely downloaded.
I got a reply from TT which basically asked me to uninstall TTH and reinstall it - which I did.
Tried again. File took closer to 25 minutes this time (this is on a 20Mb line) but stopped with 30 seconds to go. Suddenly I get a warning from Kaspersky (anti virus) that the Java engine has changed and will I allow it.
I click yes, but the file still sits there with 30 seconds to go. However, there's now no activity on the router and I guessed that the connection had been dropped.
I waited a minute longer then TTH suddenly gives the file download section a green tick and moves onto the install phase. This phase immediately fails once more with a 'invalid archive' message.
Tried it again - this time with Kaspersky turned off. Again took 25 minutes to download, but this time it went right down to 0 seconds remaining (i.e. it finished normally). Installed without an issue that time.
Am I right in thinking TTH uses more Java in this version? Anyway, there was something in the Anti-virus/Firewall settings that was causing the issue. Removing the AV/Firewall did the trick.
Hopefully this will help someone in the future |
