Their support people have told me to go and buy a headset with a volume control in it.

I don't consider this an acceptable answer - after all, why should I have to spend more money to fix a problem they made?

But is there anything I can actually do? [Apart from buy a Garmin]

Alan

Hi alan_sh
I think the previous (or 2nd previous) navcore had a volume control for headset/ear phones. So, unless you absolutely need the latest version for your maps, you could roll back a bit and install NavCore 8.2xxx, but even that had problems of it's own I believe.

I don't want to go back to a previous version. I will live with this one. I just wish the issue hadn't arisen in the first place

Just one more example of their poor attitude to customers.

But anyhoo how's a volume control gonna help? It can only reduce it, and the issue is MAX volume.

Get one with an amp maybe, but does anyone make one? And the distortion is still going to be worse than TT doing it right the first time.

A question occurs: Do TT Support actually work for TomTom? ;-)

That might be your issue, but it wasn't Alan's....

If you plug a headphones or an earpiece into TT's using latest software the volume is fixed at the maximum it can go on the line out socket, and for most headphones that's VERY loud.

I guess your issue is that the maximum LOUDSPEAKER volume is too quiet for the vehicle you drive? That's also dependent on which hardware model you own, but various software versions have made slight adjustments of around 10% or so.
