I've been looking at a Go 730
Quite like the Bluetooth feature.
Don't really need anything further than Western Europe.

Am I going in the right direction ?

Yes! Smile
One of the best TomToms...
Do check the compatibility chart for your particular phone though!

Thanks for the info

Is it customisable to include or exclude the SMS facility - I wouldnt really want txt messages appearing on my Sat Nav screen really.

There are options in the phone preferences section that lets you choose what you want it to do when a text arrives. I have it totally disabled. Smile

OK - so I've been looking too muchr now and have looked at the 530 as well. This seems to link to MP3 ? but the 730 doesn't and is cheaper.

What doesn't it do that the 730 does ?

The 530 comes with UK maps and only has 1gb of internal memory. The 730 comes with UK+Europe maps and has 2gb of internal memory.

I think that is duff information.

The 520,720,920,530,730,930 models all have an mp3 player built in as well as an FM transmitter and the ability to send the audio over Bluetooth.

On the latest x40 range (540,740,940) only the 940 has the mp3 player and FM transmitter.

The only other difference between the 5xx,7xx,9xx models is the mapping (and storage space provided for it). For UK models that means:
5 = UK and Ireland map
7=Western Europe
9=Western Europe and North America

There is absolutely no difference between the older x20 models and the x30 models that superseded them, except the colour of the bezel and the newness of the maps supplied with them.
If you can still find an x20 model, which will be even cheaper, it can be automatically updated for free to exactly the same latest maps and software.

Or a 730 at 183.99

???

Sounds like 720 and run free upgrades

As long as the 720 is new. My understanding is now the European refurbs are no longer eligible for a free Latest Map guarantee, just as has been the case with North American refurbs for a year now.

Yes, with one proviso....

The 720 might be a "refurbished" unit. These are absolutely fine, I have one myself and it was indistinguishable from a brand new one - new screen, new case etc. and they always had the same "Latest Map Guarantee" as the new units. However, there have been a couple of reports of the very latest batch of refurbs from specific places NOT having the "LMG". So check before you buy.

Someone might be able to help further if you say where you've seen the deals you quoted.

It actually works out at just over £160 when you add shipping on Total PDA.
Currys are also advertising this one for 169.99

And why is it number 6 and not 5 or 7 Laughing Out Loud
