Hi All
First of all apologies for the poor quality picture, only had a very cheap camera phone with me at the time
Saw this today on the A46 Dual Carriageway in Grimsby
Van positioned between 2 gatso's in the central reservation
Large mast at the side of the van with what I presume to be a 360 degree camera & an antenna on the top of it (also antenna'a on the van)
Said something like Industrial CCTV on the side of the van
I first thought maybe something like a survey but the strange thing is that they had put blue covers on top of both gatsos (you can just see this in the background to the left of the van)
Any ideas please
Regards
Mark

Hard to say. That is typical of survey equipment used for a variety of reasons. I can't identify what that equipment is on the tripod though.
Interesting. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi Darren
I don't think that the yellow thing behind the van is a tripod
Pretty sure it was a pair of yellow step ladders
Why would survey guys be covering up Gatso's though ?
That's what I couldn't understand

It's possible the equipment they are using could interfere with the GATSOs or the other way round. |

I was referring to the equipment to the right of the van. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I thought it was a tripod with something atop | I can see why! There is either a light, or a space through the greenery, behind that. _________________ Jock

On the subject of strange erections
On all roads approaching junction 17 of the M5 (Cribbs Causeway) the following cameras have appeared
They are even placed on a private access bridge over the motorway lanes, one covering each lane both north and southbound (7 cameras installed on poles on this one bridge).
I presume they are some sort of traffic flow monitoring as this area can get totally gridlocked at times when the nearby retail parks are doing big business. Just after New Year people were abandoning their cars and walking home. The local Asda allowed shoppers to store their frozen/chilled purchases in their freezers until they could be collected later. |

Almost certainly survey/census equipment as you surmised. _________________ Darren Griffin |
