The silver screen surround on my Go 910 creates an irritating reflection in the windscreen. Is there a matt black one available anywhere?
Don't really want to have to splash black paint around, so a 'proper' one would be much better. _________________ Panet

The silver bit is removable so take it off the device and spray it black with acrylic based paint (this type of paint won't melt the plastic) once dry refit it and you will be happy. Consider masking the power applied/ charge LED outlet though otherwise the green light won't show through - Mike |

Is there a knack to removing the surround? It doesn't seem obvious to me,and I don't want to snap it.
I suppose plastic model paint would be the safest to use? Like I used on my Airfix kits more years ago than I care to remember... _________________ Panet

Just run your thumb nail around the edge between the black case body and the screen bezel and it will pop out, you can see where the catches are from this picture I just took:

Thanks to going to all the trouble!
Just torn my thumbnail trying though. Bezel must be a tight fit! Might try a brush with care while in situ. _________________ Panet

Is it not possible to take the minimalist approach?
Namely, take a few strips of electrician tape and cover the bezel. The tape is flexible enough to stretch, making for a decent fit. As well, the black colour would match (more or less) the black of the case.
Of course, as someone who can't draw a stickman properly, I shudder at the prospect of trying to neatly paint a bezel while still on the unit. _________________ David |

All taped up now. Careful cut out for the charging light, release clip and another little hole with I think is the useless internal mic. Will test out on long journey tomorrow. _________________ Panet

Tom Tom sell black and pink surrounds for the 10 series for pennies. have had a black one on mine since day one
Can also recommend the Drumma shade which cures the problem forever and improves a lot of other things
Shame Drumma dont do shames for the 40 series cos they really need them |

The Drumma shade looks good. Unfortunately their website seems to be broken and there's no way to buy anything from them! _________________ Panet

I get a message saying
Sorry, but there is no active payment system.
It remembers my basket, but I can't pay. _________________ Panet

Drumma are having a laugh, aren't they?
Their contact page won't come up, gives a database error. So I click the email link at the bottom of the page.
So I send an email outlining my problem.
It bounces, address unknown. _________________ Panet
