TomTom x40 pricing and HD traffic receiver for x20/x30 units

Hi all,

Given that a lot of retailers are starting to run out of x20 and x30 units now, does anyone have any educated guesses or hunches about what might happen to the prices of the x40 units later in the year?

Also, does anyone have a view on whether the HD traffic receiver will ever be released for any non-x40 units in the UK? If not, is this due to a product tiering strategy or a technical shortcoming?

I would like a HD traffic enabled unit (most of the other live services seem relatively useless, except perhaps the google searches) - but there is no way I can give up my current MP3 player in the 530 to buy a 540 unit with the HD traffic when I'd lose the MP3 player. And the extra money I'd need to spend to buy a 940 (to get the MP3 capability) cannot be justified during the current economic situation. The subscription of £8/month is bad enough when I only drive 10,000 miles a year (mainly 15 miles each way to work and back every day).

The HD adapter sounds like a perfect solution for (the huge number of) people like me and I have heard on forums like this one and others that it's not going to be released here. I wonder why, given the poor x40 unit sales and the fact that the Live services still aren't working well enough to tempt most people...
