|
|
Hi all - hope you can help. I have just paid £63.60 for updated map and years worth of upgrades. On rebooting the TT One 3rd all the speed cameras seem to have gone! I backed up in total the TT before the upgrade. I found a folder in the backup called POI. I tried copying this back to the TT but getting messages such as file corrupt, or drive in use. In the backup of the old western europe folder there seems to be considerably more files than in the new western europe folder on the TT, including lots referring to the POI's.
How can I get the speed cameras and POI's back. Also I copied the map.cfg file and got all my favourites back.
Any help would be appreciated, the POI's must be there somewhere?
regards

They might be there but would it not be easier and quicker to just re-download the Speed Cameras and POIs and reinstall them? |

Thanks PaulB2005 - but can you explain a bit more please. I assume that TT would be rather cagey about just downloading the Cameras, don't I have to pay for them? why would the TT not allow me to drag and drop the POI's?

This would suggest that you are using the TT cameras and not the PGPSW ones.
If this is the case, then you can install them from TT HOME if you have used that for a backup at any time.
Look on the Menu - Add Traffic, Voices, Safety Cams etc
(then) Page 4 of 4 - Items on my computer.
You should then see the Safety Cameras as one of the items.
Click on the PLUS next to it and click ADD |

Thanks Pocketgps - you are right have not yet subscribed to PGPSW ones yet. Next Pay day! I did the back up using explorer (I just dragged the TT drive to the PC). I think I did a back up via Home a while ago, and have not updated the speed cameras since then. I will give it a go.

You should still be able to copy all your own POIs from the old map folder to the new one using windows Explorer, so it's worth trying to work out why that is not working.
You need to copy all the files with .ov2 and .bmp extensions.
If you cannot see those extensions, you need to enable the correct view in Windows Explorer or My Computer:
To fix that, go to either My Computer or Windows Explorer and:
Go to the 'Tools' Menu,
Select 'Folder Options'
Select the 'View' tab
Scroll down the list of entries and UN-tick "Hide extensions for known file types"
A far as I'm aware, you should be able to do that for the TT-supplied speed camera files too, although in that case there will be an .ov2 a .dct and a .ver file, all of which will need to be copied.
The "poi" folder is just used by Home to store .tlv files which help it to keep track of where things are. |

Thanks all - following advice from you guys I think the cameras and POIs are back on. I think I have a better understanding of the TT's configuration
Need to take it on a test run before my holiday.
Cheers
