I have got a TomTom 920 Traffic and my wife has got a Tomtom 530.I copied my entire device to a 4GB HCSD card so that she could load it in her device to give her European/North American maps.Although her device recognises the maps from the card when inserted it won't accept them.Have i missed something |

No, you didn't miss anything. You cannot transfer maps between devices as you have discovered. _________________ Garmin 1695 / 255 / 760 w/MSN - Droid w/Google nav + Navigon - Navigon 8100T - Dakota10 - GPSMap76C - GeoMate Jr. |

Yes, the maps are locked to each unit. Copying maps between devices is not allowed, and as such, it wont work! _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

Thanks to all for that information.I presume we would have to buy the relavant map from Tomtom then put on the Sd card and then it would work |

That is correct. You need to use Tomtom Home to buy and install any new maps! _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

When you get a new map from TomTom make sure it's assigned to the same email address that you have been using for that device.
Each TomTom you own should have a different email address assigned to it, otherwise Home could download a map to the wrong device if you own more than one TomTom.
Also, if you speak to TomTom support only give them the email address for the TomTom unit, which may not be the same email as you normally use.
I had to get TomTom support to reassign a Map to another address as I didn't realise when they asked for my email address that it would be the one they assigned my new map to. |
