|
|
Hello
I have a tomtom one (not sure what version - says 4N00.004.2 on the bottom) and wondering if this is SDHC compatible? If not, whats the largest SD card it can handle please? Will 4GB work ok?
Thank you

I believe it is NOT SDHC compatible.
(There's a chart on TomTom website HERE)
That limits you (normally) to a 2GB SD card.
There used to be a couple of brands of 4GB non-HC cards, Transcend and Topram were the main two mentioned on the forums, but I think they are quite hard to find now. |

Thanks. I did see that chart on the tomtom website but I had heard about people using 4GB with it. So its only Transcend and Topram that is compatible? Any other brands worth a try? |

I have exactly the same model TT One, and am running mine with a SanDisk 4GB SDHC card in it - and it works fine....
A little slow, but fine.... |

Thanks stampy. Do you know what version it is we have, ie V1 or V2? I'm sure I saw V3 pop up with I first connected it to my PC but now understand the V3 doesn't come with the SD card slot?!
Is there any benefit a 4GB SCHD has over a 4GB non-HD card? |

This is a long-running confusion over numbering of the One models, not helped by the retailers calling them something completely different!
These are the numbers TomTom refer to them by technically, and what Home calls them...
v1 = Original "One"
v2 = never released
v3 = the One "New Edition" (now called by TomTom the "Second Edition")
v4 - The first with GL Hammerhead GPS chipset, flash memory and SD card slot , Bluetooth, but no RDS-TMC connection, but it was very short lived - possibly only available in the US.
v5 = Original One XL
v6 = One Third Edition Europe unit (retailers call these "V3")
v7 = One Third Edition Regional unit (retailers call these "V3")
v8 = One New version with fold away mount (retailers call these "V4")
v9 = XL New version with fold away mount (note it's no longer called the "One XL", just the "XL")
(v1 to v5 have Bluetooth (for data transmission only, not handsfree), v6 and above have NO Bluetooth an NO SD card slot)
So what you are calling a "v2" is called the "New (or "2nd") Edition" by TomTom and is actually a v3!
As for cards.... An SDHC card MIGHT seem to work OK, but it is definitely not recommended. Trust me. |

Not to worry.... I do TWO Backups a week with my unit... A TT backup & a FULL Backup using Explorer.
Thought it was a v3 I had anyway... |
