TomTom BT + Ipaq 5550 - Help please!

Help, returned the BT package to Total PDA after two weeks of misery.

In that time I have only managed a few hours use. When I connect to the gps via the BT manager the outgoing signal displayed in the active connections is fine however I have only managed to establish an incoming connection on a few occations. The port settings are correct and the unit was fully charged and correctly paired. When the unit does not connect there are no scrolling dots displayed in the gps status screen making me think there is an intermittent fault with the unit.

Can anyone spot an obvious mistake on my part?
