|

Hello
I haven't used my iPAQ and TomTom Navigator 5 maps for a while and when I used it the other day it started playing up with an annoying problem that I have forgotten how to solve!
When I am driving, the iPAQ interrupts the navigation and presents me with an annoying pop-up telling me that it is searching for something. I think it's something to do with connecting to a device. I have to cancel this to get back to the map, then it will do it again every ten minutes or so.
I know there is information on this forum somewhere, showing how to solve this problem because I had it before, but I can't find it!
Could anyone possibly point me towards the relevant information, or maybe remind me how to sort it out?
Thanks very much! |

Thanks for your reply
Yes, it has Bluetooth and uses that to connect to the GPS receiver, but that's not the problem. As you suggested, I think it's to do with a network connection of some description.
It seems to be something that the iPAQ's operating system is trying to do independently of the TomTom set-up. I had this problem before, and solved it via some advice on here, but I can't find that information again!

Thanks for your reply :-)
I don't have any other applications running. I just use TomTom Navigator, then use the TomTom Bluetooth GPS receiver which the iPAQ finds and connects to.
I haven't tried the Pocket Bluetooth Tools, but the solution to this problem is something that I have to alter on the iPAQ - a setting - because I have done it before. I just can't find the information on here, nor can I remember what I had to do!
I have no idea what baud rate is set as I have only ever switched it on, switched on the GPS receiver, then used the navigation software.
I tried to get the damned thing to recreate the problem yesterday, but it wouldn't do it. I'll have to wait until it does it again so I can write down what it says. All I remember is that it is the iPAQ trying to connect to something like a network and is telling me it can't find something.

Could it be that the wifi is trying to connect to wireless networks it's finding as you are driving around, in which case just turn off wifi.

My guess too is that you have wifi enabled and it is alerting you of every wifi network it finds as you drive along. If that is the case just disable wifi. _________________ Peter

Thank you both.
I'm not sure it would be that, but I suppose it's possible. It seemed to bring up this alert at regular intervals, even when driving out in the country, away from built-up areas.
I'll look into how to turn off that function anyway though.

Mine used to pick up wifi networks from houses more than from offices.
If that does not work plese let us know exactly what the warning says and we can see if somebody can help you _________________ Peter
