HI guys,m8 is going to replace his 300 go and is not sure what to replace it with !! I have a 910 and we both would like to get the speed camera data on both devices[but not tomtoms] which new tomtom could we buy that we can share the database on IE same data type
question 2
I have a new map of gb and Ireland can i just simply drag this map into another tomtom or is their more to it

You can't share our database, our licence terms (which are much fairer than anyone elses) permit installation on up to three devices owned by your or your family living at the same address, friends need their own subscription. We have a winter discounts at the moment with a subscription for 12mths costing £16.99, £2.01 less than the normal rate and you're still eligible for lifetime subscriptions if you subscribe and report camera locations.
As for which model, our database is supported on all of TomTom's current range. Which one depends on what your budget is, whether you need maps for other countries, do you want a widescreen device, hands-free, .mp3 playback etc etc. Let us know what you need/want and budget and we can advise.

The maps are licensed and locked to the device they were installed and activated on. You are not permitted to copy them to another and even if you did they would not activate.

Hi Darren and thanks for a clear comprehensive reply.
he only really wants close to basic but would like the spoken word rather than bells and cow sounds,blue tooth for the phone GB and Europe maps..
Halford seem to have loads of offers but not sure which one to buy

In which case I'd say it was a 520 or 530 that best fitted those requirements. 520's are thin on the ground now but if you can find one at the right price that's the one I'd get. It can be easily upgraded to the same version as the 530 (v8) and so long as it is new or TomTom refurbished it will come with a free map update so essentially can be made to match the 530 spec for much less moolah!
The voice alerts for speed cams etc are compatible with all current TomTom PND's.

he needs a 720 or 730 for Europe map. The 720 also is very scarce now.

I've looked for the 520/30 but on the way I found a xl ukk & r01 v2 /assist for £129 save £50
how does this one compare,ebay have the other but I dont trust ebay sales much,i've been bitten b4

UK & ROI does not include Europe.
I don't know the XL, so can't comment but the 720/730 have more capability

I was also looking at the
TomTom XL UK & ROI V2 at Halfords but since it does not have a expansion card slot now the question.
1) Is it compatabile with the camera data base from this site, as on the sat nav system on the download page only shows One series inc XL no mention of V2.

Yes, fully supported, we hadn't bothered adding the V2 specifically as ALL ONE's and ONE XL's are supported. In fact all TomTom PND's released to date are supported. However I've amended the table to clarify that all ONE's and XL's are supported.

One series = One, One v1, One v2, One v3, One v4.... etc etc!
it's easier than writing them all out!
likewise for Garmin we just put 'Nuvi series' as opposed to all the specific models!
