Try as I might i am unable to find any information as to how the card can be used either in the manual or even on this site.

Can anyone point this poor dullard to a reference for it or explain in words of one syllable how I use it.

Can I use it to give additional space for music etc or ifor a second map?

I have tried putting one in (128Mb) but it does not register in Windows Explorer nor does the size of the TomTom alter to show it has been recognised.

Confused

If you want to put music on the card create a folder called "mp3" (all lower case and without the "") put your music tracks in this folder and the device will pick them up for use.
For maps you will need a much larger card, 2 or 4GB are best, even the SDHC style of cards are supported - again put the map on the card in its own folder and the device will make it available.

The SD card can be treated as an extension to the built in Flash memory of the device, as long as the files you put on the card are stored in correctly named folders the device will make use of them - Mike

Thanks.

I now see the card as an extra drive.

I can now simply treat it as an extension to TomTom drive if I use the same folder names.
Am I right?

Yup, thats how it works, although you might want to consider a larger capacity card for the device than 128MB Wink - it will very quickly fill up - Mike

Thanks Mike,

I was going to use a larger card anyway - but the 128 was the old one from my very old TomTomGo300 and was handy!

Thanks again!

I'm not convinced it will work for ALL folders (e.g. I don't think you can split voices across the two storage places), but it certainly works for the "mp3", "photos" and "audiobooks" folders as intended.
