Our real voice speed camera alerts page now has thirty different voice sets to choose from, that's right, 30 different sets.
Most voice packs are vailable in single file, consolidated and speed zoned versions to match the camera database and we have recently introduced Garmin compatible voice file packages available ion standard and Ash10 Camera manager version with more to come.
If you are already using our acclaimed speed camera database then installing the camera alert pack of your choice is a simple procedure and these are FREE to all our members along with our custom cursors, high quality Icon packs and our FREE POIs.
If you are not already taking advantage of these voice packs then pay the download page a visit, we also have voice packs available for other common POIs. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi. I have a two month old TomTom 730. I have downloaded your camera warning voices but am finding them impossible to install. When I get to the screen where you indicate you want a sound effect and touch "done", you then go to the distance screen. When you touch "ok" it just goes back to the "sound effect" or "type your own warning" screen. And on and on in a never ending loop. |

Soft Reset then redo the warnings. It's a TomTom bug. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Not having an mp3 player is NOT the same thing as "not being able to use mp3 voice alerts".
I don't know the Nuvi 250, but there are many models of TomTom that do not have an mp3 player and they can ALL use the voice alerts (in this case in .ogg format).
At guess, I would have thought the Nuvi 250 CAN use the voice alerts, but I'm sure a Garmin expert will be along to confirm it yes or no. |

Sadly for Garmin units in order to use the mp3 voice alerts you do need the mp3 player function in the unit.
You can use wav files instead if you use an old verison of POILoader (2.4.0 Beta, i think) but it is a Beta version and Garmin withdrew the facility to use wav files.
There is some further info here |

Can you confirm that the voice files are in the same folder as the speedcam POIs? You should have a ******.ogg file to match every speed cam POI file e.g. Pocketgps_gatso_30.ov2 AND the matching Pocketgps_gatso_30.ogg file.
You MUST have downloaded the correct matching voice file pack i.e. if you use Speed Zoned POIs then you need the Speed Zoned Voice pack and extracted the files to the same location on your TomTom? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Have a Garmin N250W. Sound files don't work on this devise either. just the boring bong...bong...bong.
If anyone sorts out a way to use the mp3 sound files please let all us Garmin 250 / 250w users know. That would be great. Have a nice day |

Hi
This is my first post but here goes
I have Gamin Nuvi 250 it does not work with the Mp3 files but having read the help file with poiloader it says for them to work the poi's have to be in a GPX file with the name tourguide xxxxx.
As the Speed camera files are CSV then the loader does not know to associate the mp3s to the poi's
Any one go t any ideas how to convert the CSV to GPX files?

Hi and welcome.

Not sure what you mean. You assign an mp3 to a CSV file by giving them the same name. So the alert for your GATSO.csv file needs to be called GATSO.mp3 etc

Still won't work with the 250. Note the POILoader help file actually says
Quote: | TourGuide is a feature available on compatible Garmin devices. TourGuide files include Custom POIs with descriptive .mp3 audio files. When you approach a TourGuide point, the .mp3 file plays and provides you with information about that point, much like a guided tour. TourGuide files must be saved as .gpx files. |
The mp3 file won't play on a 250 as it doesn't have the mp3 player function.
Finally RoadTour who produce their own TourGuide files say this on their compatibilty page.
Quote: | Compatible Garmin Models
