hard reset on rac satnav200 restore the registy?

i have bene playing with my say nav trying to get access to the windows ce interface to allow me to install tomtom onto it... however i have by mistake deleted some of the registry it needs and now wont load or sully connect to the laptop in order to fix these.

would a hard reset revert these back to a default settings?
also how do i hard reset, remove the main bat for how long?
is there a backup bat?

or would it even be possible to install windows CE from the sd slot?

the unit failst o fully boot so it is impossible to try get access via ACTIV SYNC. i get the device connect and displayed in device manager for about 3 seconds then it goes and cycles around as if i was plugging it in and out constantly...

ive had the bat unplugged for about 5 mins and that fails to get the unit working again...
