I've just been to the TT website to check for a new W&CE map for my 720 and they're available at the ridiculous & I'd say extortionate £100!
It's nearly as cheap to get a new machine.
How on earth can they justify such a price for it, it's crazy money, this will surely put people off upgrading or when it becomes public knowledge buying a TomTom altogether.
Are the prices the same as the rest of the EU or is it another case of Rip Off Britain? |

to be honest i would say that as well as the map you are buying extra features. don't the v8 maps include iq-routes data?

The IQ data is included, but £100, it's simply too much.
If it were around £80, then fair enough but I think its simply extortion. |

But that is for the Western And Central Europe map, if you don't intend to travel to the extra counties it contains go for the Western Europe map at £79:95 or if you are going to stay in the UK what about the GB&ROI map for £49:95
The v810 maps do contain the new IQ Routes data, and I can see this being the main reason for the price hike over the v725 maps which are from the same map data but don't contain the IQ routes information.
If you think this is "Rip of Britain" spare a thought for those in Singapre, they have to spend £29:95 for 1,4MB of maps and they don't even have the IQ Routes data - Mike |

We have approached TomTom for official comment on the quiet release of the new v8.10 map data. They have replied that 'we will have more information next week'.
Until then I would caution anyone against jumping in and buying these maps just yet.

Just an observation but when I checked for maps via TTH and looked at the info WE @ £79.95, it only mentions IQ Routes and nothing about ALG.

Am I missing something ? I know when the 8.05 maps were released that they were not listed as for the X20's. Hence no support from TT (Nothing new there)
Now the 8.10 maps are out, and they are listed for the X20's, surely they will work OK and TT will have to support any problems ?

They'll work fine, but I'd still suggest holding off on purchase until TomTom make an announcement next week, can't say more than that. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Out of pure curiousity Darren, just wondering why you advise waiting for Tomtom to comment on this quiet map release? What do you think they 'may' say? I have a 520 and am considering upgrading. Or were you meaning to the non-x20 users on buying a v7.25 map?

Has anyone downloaded 8.10 yet, if so can they confirm that ALG is available?.
Interesting that it appears 8.10 has the same or similar maps as 7.20/7.25, and as I have 8.05 they will know I was one of those that exploited a loophole before it was closed.

Ok, i guess i cant ask any more then. I`ll hold off on possibly parting with the best part of £50 for a while longer. Unless of course you can 'hint' at what it is you may or may not know? _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE
