Are you able to copy a small test file to the card via a card reader? _________________ Darren Griffin |

As far as I remember (and it has been a while) you can't put Custom POIs on memory card -- iCN520 (and really most Navmans with "classic" software) will pick up Custom POI only from internal storage. I think you can find some info on workarounds if you search old posts on this forum. |

That's right, custom POIs can only be loaded to the device memory, not to a memory card. If you have a copy of the manual the details are on pages 89 onwards. Incidentally, as far as I remember, you can load only a maximum of 25 custom files on the iCN500 series. Have you already got other customs POIs on your device? Have you previously loaded any? If so it is worth while removing those you do not use in order to make room for those you need. _________________ Gee-Pee

Are they still there? If so, remove them using My Computer - Mobile device. They could possibly be causing some sort of conflict Have you ever loaded them on the internal memory or is this the first attempt? If you have, be sure to remove them all before uploading the new ones via SmartST. _________________ Gee-Pee

On iCN units Custom POI went into special MyPOI folder. If you were running out of space on internal memory, I think there was an undocumented feature to get around that -- you could put your Custom POI files on the card as long as MyPOI folder was created in the correct place AND ALL Custom POI "ini" files were put on internal memory (even for those installed on the card).
This had no impact on 25 Custom POI type limit -- this was hard coded and there was no way to successfully add more (if you tried you usually got unpredictable results). |
