Hi, Hope someone can help,
I have had TT BT 3 for a few days and so still getting use to it but it seems fine, but I have also downloaded GPS-Assist basically for POI speed Camera warnings, I have installed and it seems to works perfect, BUT when I shut down tomtom Navigator the GPS-Assists seems to lock up?? and then re-opens tt Nav., I have to Soft start the PDA to solve the problem.
This doesn't happen when I run tt nav alone.
I havn't as yet bought the GPS-Assits yet, but I havn't ran it for the 40 times trial either, so I dont think it is this.
Has anyone any Ideas???
Many Thanks
Bono. |

Hi Bono,
Welcome to the forum.
I’ve only recently (last few days) started to run the trial version of GPSAssist 1.3.3. I used CheckPOInt 2.02 as my POI detector before.
I’ve also found that if you try to shutdown TTNav before GPSAssist then GPSAssist will restart TTNav for you. Try shutting down GPSAssist first and that should do the trick. I know that this means that you loose another on of the 40 runs of GPSAssist but unless you’re doing that a lot each day then you should have enough time to be able to evaluate it.
GPSAssist takes some getting used to, as there’s so much that it can do.

Hi Bono,
It depends. If you just want a POI detector then I’d go for CheckPOInt 2.0.2 (not CheckPOInt 3.xx). CheckPOInt is free, very easy to set-up, and hassle free.
GPSAssist does a lot more and because of that you have to pay €27.00 (approximately £18.50). As you already have TTNav3 there are some GPSAssist functions that you don’t need (e.g. waypoints).
Jo (the author) is currently developing a new version GPSAssist to run with TTNav3.xx and WM2003. If you are a registered user of 1.xx then you should get 2.xx free.
I will probably buy it. However you will need to assess it and decide whether it meets your requirements.
