Hi
I've got a TomTom XL with a Plus account and get a fair bit of use out of the Traffic feature. However after upgrading to an iPhone the traffic service will no longer work (as the TomTom won't work with an iPhone).
I came up with the idea of buying a pay as yo go sim, putting it in my old phone, keeping it in the car solely to work as a "modem" for the TomTom. Unfortunatley after buying an O2 PAYG sim I've found out that O2 PAYG sims can't support TT Plus services, despite being GPRS enabled.
Does anyone know of a PAYG sim that'll work with TT Plus? I understand orange does but you can only top data up in 4MB chunks which costs £4 - that sounds like I'd end up with a lot of unused data allowance each month which would not be very cost effective.
Thanks for any help.

Orange is known to work, as you only pay for the data traffic you use any left over at the end of each day will remain available for further use, when it has all gone you add another 4MB top up I fail to see what relevance there is to a monthly rate with a Pay As You Go service - Mike |

Thanks, I was under the impression that the 4MB expired at the end of each month, so any unused allowance is lost. If this is not the case then so much the better. |

Hi, I believe you are right in that the 4MB allowance does expire after each month so you would be wasting alot of MB's if you were using it solely for traffic. You dont have to purchase data packages you can just use credit everytime you access data (I believe this to cost around £4 per MB) so depending on how much you use it this could be a better option. Not sure how much orange credit you would use, hopefully someone who is using it might be able to give us a clue as to the rough costs and amount of data just using PAYG and normal credits as £4 per MB seems a lot.

I bought an Orange PAYG SIM specifically to use abroad on my recent holiday (with HTC Advantage X7510) and it worked perfectly for GPRS and internet. Two advantages were it did Roaming without any setup required and it couldn't possibly give me a shocking bill when I got back home. I've no idea what I used, but there's still some credit left from my first £10 (I used free wi-fi access when available, simply for speed, not cost). _________________ Dennis
