Guys – I’m replacing my i3 soon, it’s been great for the past few years, but it’s now getting out of date and the scroll wheel is becoming a PITA for me, I need an easy touch screen! I have a custom mount and know that the newer NUVI’s fit as the ball joint is the same size. What would you recommend for my next unit? I’m looking at the 250 as it’s priced very well at the moment…. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

I'm thinking about the folowing:

200
250
205
255

The nn5's are the newer models of the nn0 range. Apart from a find near option on the 50 series and europe maps, I can't see what othjer differences are...

Last queston! Is the bluetooth handsfree any good on the garmin's. Is it worth paying extra for the 700 serias that has this?

You can compare several models at once here. Tick upto 4 and then click Compare to get a table showing their features.

Bluetooth Hands-free is more than OK (except the 7xx series has a bug with the Phone Home function), however it's also available on some of the lower model numbers too such as the 200W. You can easily voice dial if your phone is supported and is much better than messing with an ear-piece.

Thanks for the info Paul, that link is very good. The site doesn't say that the 200w has bluetooth though, is the site incorrect? Also how does the bluetooth compare to a dedicated kit? As I have a Parrot CKW3200 at the moment, but due to change my car, it would be a bit of a pain to transfer this....

Sorry about that you are right. I saw Bluetooth on the right hand menu and assumed this referred tot he unit on the screen...

The Bluetooth is OK. It can be a bit too loud / quite sometimes, but it's usable. Might be worth seeing if you can try a unit in Halfords or somewhere first. Probably not as good as a built in car kit if it's using the stereo speakers.

i don't think the 200w has bluetooth...

the nuvi's use parrot oem for their bluetooth set up so it should be comparable!

Right guys, I'm buying a new unit this week as my i3 is falling apart! It'll either be the Nuvi 250 or 255. I've read that the 255 has a faster processor and smoother mapping over the 250, but apart from that does it have anything else?

I've seen the 250 for £89.99 now and the 255 for £120, is the 255 worth spending the extra £30 on?

Thanks.

the 2x5 range has a new user interface where the next turn is shown diagrammatically in the top left corner. i think as well that speed is always shown?

i can't remember the other differences, but, like you said i'm sure i read somewhere that the refresh rate has been improved.

Thanks for the reply MaFt....

I have two more questions.....

1. Does the 255 have the 'Where am I' function over the 250? I cannot see the 255 on the Garmin site, just the T and WT version. Looks like quite a useful function.

2. Which garmins have Euro and US maps as standard?

Thanks Very Happy

If you are selling the i3 I would like an op to purchase it. My problem is that the batt door on mine is broken since dropping it (and step back - where did that go - CRUNCH Embarassed )

PM me if interested.

Thanks
