Hello,

Why is TT Home so "clunky" I have sat here trying to put POIs on my new toy, and it only lets you add one at a time, and this is with 31 pages to play with.

In this modern age it is quite unforgiveable to have such a basic, badly designed piece of Software that runs the whole piece of equipment.

When we spend the amount of money that we spend on these pieces of kit surely more is expected.

Very poor.

Cheers

Carl

More to the point... why on Earth are you bothering to try to use Home to add POIs? Laughing

Apart from updating software and installing new maps, everything can be done quicker and easier with Windows Explorer or the Mac equivalents.

For POIs, simply download the files - (you should end up with an .ov2 file and a .bmp file for each) and copy and paste them into your map's folder.

You should also ALWAYS use Explorer to make the all-important backups.

I am a sad gadget geek, needed to see all angles, so was looking what extras (if any) were on HOME, and was getting frustrated, so did stop.

Have done all backups through explorer, so not doing too bad.

I am new to this, it is great fun though.

The main bit that has annoyed me is the change from a 920 to a 930, I bought a 920 2 weeks ago, and am very pleased with it. However I have now seen the 930 and want one of them, however the likelihood is that I will have to buy some new maps to get my 920 to be a 930, surely it would have been better to offer existing 920 owners the right to use this new technology as opposed to bring out a new model which is in essence exactly the same but lets you do different things, it does seem very short term and very money motivated, I know TomToms accounts weren't the best but this is not the best way to improve them.

It does seem a very expensive game for us all to play, this is a brilliant site with some fantastic advice, but yet we seem to be playing a game with the TomTom "Operating System" this firm supplies us with the Hardware, then the maps, the fun bits seem to be added by us, the POIs etc. getting from A to B has been made easier, mainly due to the fact that the map reader has been released from all responsibility. The company don't really seem to care, but still that is what we have all come to expect, sadly.

My god what a waffler, I am

Cheers

Carl

I am sitting here watching Jaws at 1 in the morning so you will have to forgive me!!!

Another thing is why the hell should we have to go elsewhere, if Tomtom make your piece of kit then they should supply you with everything you need.

Believe me, I am really grateful to this website, but when you fork out the kind of dosh you do for these things you should have to rely on the people who make the equipment, not the people who get them their free reputation, or they should at least throw you something back!!!
