I posted an enquiry on this site, received a very quick response and after further research I have decided to buy in ipaq 2210 with portable battery extender together with a NavMan 4410 Bluetooth receiver which runs on consumable batteries. this way I shall be fully powered and mobile on me bike and in me tent. The next question. I want to load topo maps of the South of England and Northern France and I am looking at either GPS ideas or Ozi explorer for mapping software. Has anyone experience of either of these mapping products, I would appreciate feed back.

For the UK if you want PROPER topo maps, then I'd suggest looking at Memory-Map or Fugawi. These come with rich Ordnance Survey maps, you do pay the price but they are extremely good. Can't really comment on France, you may want to look at posts in the Memory Map and Fugawi forums, and also check out our Topographical maps on the left hand menu under GPS Software to read the reviews and fall in love with them.
