Hi guys
A noob to this site and eager to learn and be a part of the community!
I have a TT One XL purchased a couple of weeks ago with Ver.8 installed.
It has the camera alert included as part of the package but does not have Traffic.
What i want is to have an alert icon (as shown in this link) http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/speed-camera-icons.php

my question is where do i download this to ie what folder? POI Folder? Sounds Folder? Western Europe Folder?

Also will it automatically know if the zone is 30mph or 40mph??

I know you can set the alert to distinguish between Gatso and Specs in the TT unit itself but i do not know how to set the mph limit (unless TT does this automatically?)

Any help much appreciated.

thanks

Ahh... The problem is that those icons are for use with the speed camera database from THIS site, which uses the "normal" POI system.

What I believe you have on your machine is a trial version of TomTom's OWN database, which uses a different system where you have no control over the images used.

Most people here believe the TomTom supplied database to be inferior in many ways, not just that one, so my advice is to dump the TT cameas and subscribe to the one from here. Smile (You can then have SPOKEN warnings too... "Warning, Gatso ahead, 30 miles per hour" etc.)

With the PGPSW database you can have different warning distances for each camera type and speed. The speed limit itself is part of the data, you don't have to set that yourself.
With the TT one, you just set a time for your warnings.

is this the same with the POI alerts ??

do i need to become a full member to get the POI alerts to warn me on upcoming POI's or can this be done with the standard TT unit

if it can be done do i copy the folders to the Sound Folder or Western Europe (map) Folder?

Do i copy the contents of each sub folder to the main folder??

thanks again?

No, the only problem is with the TomTom own-brand ones. They used to be like every other POI, but they changed them.....

For other POIs, the sound needs to be in .ogg or .wav format. Then you either:

1. Put the sound files in the "sounds" folder if you have v7 or v8 software. (You can use sub-folders if you wish with this method).
Then select them in the normal way on the sound effect selection page - Change Preferences/ Manage POI/ Warn when near POI.

Or
2. Make sure the sounds are in .ogg format. Give the sound file the exact same name as the POI file - so you have Supermarkets.ov2 and Supermarkets.ogg and put them all in the same place as the ov2 files (ie the map folder)
Then to set up the alerts go to Change Preferences/ Manage POI/ Warn when near POI as before [b]BUT[b/] you will be asked to choose a sound but will not be offered any options, this is normal. You will be asked 'Is this the sound you want?'. You should answer Yes on this screen. If you do, you will then see the warning distance screen and can proceed as normal. (If you reply "no" everything crashes!")

Hi!I too am a newbie to the world of Sat Nav.
I have a 720T and have downloaded the PGPS speed camera database.
however, it seems as if the unit is displaying both the PGPS camera icons AND the original tomTom ones which came preloaded.
how do I remove the TomTom ones from the unit?

I have done full backup via Explorer both before and after I installed the PGPS database.
