When I make a backup using internet explorer i must use the show hidden files and folders, is that the only box i must click on or is there any more boxes to check. _________________ Its only easy if you know the answer.

Not Internet Explorer, mate... WINDOWS Explorer. Two different programs entirely (ish!)
Neither option NEEDS to be set to make a copy successfully.
The box we suggest you set and leave UN-ticked all the time is "hide extensions for known file types" so you can see the three letters after the file name.
This is because the TomTom itself uses Linux, which allows some files to have the same name but with either a different extension or none at all. This setting just lets you see what is going on, otherwise it can look like you have two files with the same name!.
At the same time some of us say you might as well tick the "show hidden files and folders" option, just so you can see what Windows is getting upto on your PC, but there are usually NO hidden files or folders on a TomTom (unless you put them there accidentally!), so it will make no difference to the copy you make.
Saying you MUST have that option selected is a bit of a myth that has grown with repetition...... |

Yep i unchecked that one to Show extension for known file types.
