I currently have App 8.010 on my 520 with the v715 map Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland.
When TT release the v8 maps for my device, I intend to purchase the equivalent or go for the Western Europe one.
At the moment, my main map and applications are on the internal memory and I have a duplicate of the map on the SD Card, which is generally used for storing mp3s and Audiobooks. If I go for the Western Europe map, the chances are it won't fit in the internal memory and will therefore have to go on the card.
Obviously, I will do a full Windows backup before making any change - I do one at least monthly, anyway, but my questions are:
1. Do I delete the map in the internal memory or the SD card or both, before I download the new map?
2. If I put the new map on the card, do I copy all the OV2 and bmp files over to the Map folder on the card with the new map?
3. Will the Speed Camera database need downloading again to place it on the SD card or can it stay in internal memory?
and finally 4. Will the 520 know where to look for the map and POI's?
Sorry for all the questions, but I would rather be prepared, than making problems for myself.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts. _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course!

You will need an SD card to get the European Map on the device, the x20 units can see both the SD and internal memory at the same time.
With the map installed to your unit switch it on and go to Change Preferences/ Manage Map/ Switch Map and select your new map from the presented list.
POI Files must be in the active map folder, so you will need to copy all your POI files to the new map folder, you will also have to re-configure the POI warnings. Speed Camera files from this site are POI files so the same applies to these. Unless you need the space on the SD card I would leave the map you have on the card in place, it won't be doing any harm - Mike

Mike,
Many thanks. I thought that was the way to go, but it's best to make sure before dropping a brick! _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course!
