FREE MAP UPDATES FOR NUVI 250

have just got new 250 but how do i get the free map update for it,went on garmin site to download new sorfware update no problem.
but then it just tells me i have v9 maps and new update to v10 will cost me £59.95
am i missing something or is the map sent out to me on cd or dvd

I got my Nuvi 350 a couple of months ago with V9 maps, went on the Garmin website, registered it with the serial number etc and then requested the free 2008 map update which they then sent out as a CD a few weeks later.
