|
|
I was suffering from losing my POI warnings after connecting my 730 to Home.
I noticed that Home seemed to be overwriting some configuration files with OLDER versions.
So I did a backup using home (after configuring my POI warnings), and I have not lost them since.
It is all a bit un-scientific, but maybe it will work for someone else. _________________ Tomtom Go 1005

Firstly, please use Windows Explorer to make your backups - see #1 on the FAQ here. Home is known not to back everything up and has a habit of suddenly forgetting where it stored the files.
Many users have had the warnings disappear when connecting to the PC (not necessarily to Home itself) at random. If we could work out a pattern we would but it happens to me randomly.
If you make a separate backup of the mapsettings.cfg file from the map folder to another folder on the device, you can copy the settings back wherever you have access to a PC. This file holds the warning settings among other things. _________________ Gerry

I think you missed my point. I had only ever backed up using explorer, but after connecting to Home my POI warnings would often disappear. After making a single backup using Home, this problem seems to have been fixed. I have no intention of doing a restore from this backup. _________________ Tomtom Go 1005

You're right there. I saw backup and Home in the same sentence and jumped.
I'll have a go backing up with Home now and see how it goes for me. If it works, I owe you one. _________________ Gerry
