|
|
Hi All, I noticed that when driving along a road today there are about 3 GATSO cameras, 1 monitron and a redlight camera that is missing from the database, I will be driving that route again tomorrow and would like to capture them to add to the database, which is the best mehtod to use to capture these cameras using TomTom Navigator 6 on my PDA? I have tried getting POICapture to work but it refuses to.
Any advice will be appreciated

Sccccch, keep it quite.
If these aren't on the database and you register them first, you could end up with a free database for life.
Now everyone else will be looking for them. _________________ TomTom Go 60

On TomTom v7 software you can set the "Browse Map" page Options to have the Lat/ Long shown on screen. Maybe that works on your Nav6?
But the easiest way I think is to mark the camera position as a favourite as you pass it (Add Favourite/Forward Arrow/"GPS Position").
Then when you get home, just use the submission MAP on this page.
Scroll and zoom until the (tiny) crosshairs in the very centre of the map screen match your favourite's position, then click on "Update co-ordinates" above the map, which fills in the Lat/Long for you, and then fill in the rest of the boxes. |

Be interesting to see them. It sounds VERY unusual to have 5 cameras (especially of different sorts) all missing in one area.
When you use the submission map, if you see camera icons there already, then there must be something wrong with your particular set-up. |

quick question - i had the tomtom 520 out today, friend has borrowed the garmin and sawa new mobile spot.
i saved it as a favourite BUT how do i get to see the coordinates?! is it a case of just matching up the location to the google map? if so then i still prefer the garmin

MaFt, if you go to Browse Map, Find, Favourite, and select the Favourite you want, it will display its position on the map with the co-ordinates at the bottom of the screen. If it doesn't show them, tap Options and make sure the bottom box, Co-ordinates, is checked. _________________ Anita

I usually use the coords from the Browse map page as above.
Or of course, you could submit a whole set of reports as an .ov2 POI file via the submission form.
Presume you don't get many of those any more?
You could also open the Favourites file (MapSettings.cfg) in POIEdit and that would list all the coordinates. |

ALSO ... Change Preferences, Set Units, then you can have funny stuff for the coordinates - Decimal Degrees, or Minutes, or Seconds. _________________ Dennis

But set it to decimal degrees, as that's what the submission page takes. |

OK, so for the NEW cameras you submitted, look out in a few days (when the Administrator has had time to process the submissions) for the coloured squares on the submission page map which means your submissions were accepted for verification.
Coloured squares = "You were first".
No coloured squares = "Must try harder (actually "faster" - somebody else beat you to it)."
I'm with Andy here Quote: | It sounds VERY unusual to have 5 cameras (especially of different sorts) all missing in one area. | But time will tell and in the meantime, Good Luck AND thank you! _________________ Dennis
