This is a problem from the past, just use the kate file from your back up.

Open up your TomTom device in windows explorer and your back up in another window. On your back up, locate the loquendo folder, kate should be nestled in there. Drag her over to the loquendo folder on your device and you should be ok. |

Is it offered to you in HOME / Add Maps, Traffic, Voices etc / Computer Voices (Page 3)? _________________ Anita

Thanks for the help....... I have already done that and nothing..... Will try again...... When doing a manual v8 install do you delete all the files from say ASR folder and then copy the new files across or do you copy the files across in addition to what is already there? _________________ GO 750 LIVE v9.430 - v8.753612 EU map

Does this help you sort out what to do:
Connect the TomTom to the PC and switch it on, select Yes when asked about connection to PC. If TomTom Home software starts up close it down as it is of no assistance when following this method.
I also assume you have a full backup of the device, if not make a full back up BEFORE doing anything else.
First of all you will need WinRar software on the PC to follow this installation guide, it can be downloaded for a free 40 day evaluation period from Here
When you click the link to the manual software update download you get the option to Open or Save, choose the Save option and save the file to the desktop (it is easier to find it later on this way).
Once downloaded double click the downloaded files icon on your desktop, this will automatically start WinRar and should display as per:
Highlight all the files and folders then click “Extract To” you need to find the TomTom device from the list (in my case Drive Q).
Select the TomTom drive letter, and make sure the “Ask before overwrite” check box is selected:
Hit the OK button and the file transfer will commence, as soon as the software detects an existing file with the same name it will throw up this dialogue box:
Click “Yes to All” and leave it to update your device, once it has finished make sure there is no drive activity indicated on the TomTom screen for at least 30 seconds then right click the drive letter associated with the TomTom device and select "Eject" or "Disconnect Drive" as applicable, pulling the cable out works but can cause problems if any data transfer is still in progress - Mike |

OK thanks..... So it rewrites some files, loads new ones and uses some of the excisting files.
I have Kate working now, but seen to have lost Voice recognition. Guess thats all in the ASR folder. I'll play tomorrow......... _________________ GO 750 LIVE v9.430 - v8.753612 EU map

Reset the device with a paper clip and use the return to factory defaults option, this will wipe out all your favoroutes and POI warnings etc but it should get it working again - Mike |

Out of interest, jzip is a free program which is very similar in appearance to WinZip, but also works with rar files. It is free and does not expire after a trial period, I never bother with WinZip now
