Hi All,

I've managed to record some trip information to a log file using TOMTOM GPS log facility. Can anyone advise if I can do anything else with the log file apart from just playing it back under TOMTOM e.g. import into another application for stats etc?

Also, does anyone who uses the playback function find it anoying that you have to connect to the GPS device in order to activate the replay function?

Cheers

It can only be used within TomTom because of its proprietary format and yes it is annoying that you have to connect the GPS although this is only true for BT GPS users! A simple workaround is to change from a BT driver to a CF or Mouse driver on COM1 before playback and the prompts will not then appear.

Interestingly we use Royaltek BT Datalogger GPS units, they're datalogs can be played back using a Royaltek utility which appears to other apps as a GPS. So in this way we can play a logfile back through any other PocketPC or PC GPS app whilst sat in the office or home, it's hugely useful when comparing software and is great to see!

If the log file is in NMEA format then it can be transferred to a Windows PC and converted to show the track in a mapping program, eg AutoRoute, Memory-Map Navigator, Mapsource and TTN as POI.

My conversion programs are in the Downloads area under POI Icons and Converters.
