Ok thanks, i didn't see that one.
I have downloaded all the POI that I needed, then unzipped the file - only one file was zipped - POI with no file extension (400KB). I the then copied this to my SD card, plugged it into the TOMTOM but when I switch the unit on I get a card error graphic?
Anybody know this one?
Thanks |

Did you follow Step 4 in the instructions Paul linked to, where it says copy the POI files to the map folder? _________________ Anita

Also sounds like you need to re-download the files (only do a few at a time) and use the Show Link option. You should have a few OV2 files and BMPs. Then follow the instructions again taking note of what Anita says above. |

I have downloaded the POI again and now have the correct files and BMP files. thanks.
Ii've purchased an SD card from the net, then formatted on the PC. Copied the files to the root of the card using a USB card reader. The poped it into the tomtom. is this where I'm going wrong - do I need to create a map folder?
Thanks again!

I'm afraid it is where you're going wrong, but creating a map folder alone won't help.
A TomTom ONE can only use the internal memory (if it has one) OR the SD card. You cannot put some things on one and some on the other.
(You CAN on the TT x20 and x30 ranges, but none of the other models).
What you need to do is either:
1. put the POI files you've downloaded into the existing map folder on the ONE itself (they are pretty tiny, so should fit, but if you are really short of space you could delete some of the foreign voice files), or
2. Copy EVERYTHING from the internal memory onto your SD card (including the system files). Then the ONE will boot from the card instead and you can add your POI files to the map folder on the card then. |

You may be hiding the extensions which can make it hard to follow the instructions and give info regarding the files you have for support.
From any "folder" window, go into "Tools", then "Folder Options..." In the "View" tab, make sure that 'Hide extensions for known folder types' is NOT selected. This should make the OV2 and BMP extensions visible.
The rest of the advice given so far is still valid. _________________ Gerry

I've changed windows setting so I can see all the OV2 files and bitmap files - thanks
I then copied these files to the maps directory on the device - thanks this all worked well with lots of space left!
So helpfull! |
