They are here but you'll need to convert them to mp3 with a program like Audacity. |

It appears only the models with mp3 players support mp3 alerts. As the 250W doesn't have an mp3 player i'd say no. However if you get an older copy of POILoader such as the 2401 Beta version here you can use WAV files in the same way.
However, this is a Beta (test) release of POILoader and is not supported by Garmin. The wav function was also dropped for some reason from future releases. Use at your own risk. |

Just as quietly as they dropped it, they re-introduced it! - it's back in POILoader V2.5.2

I asked Garmin if they could confirm all the recent, undocumented changes to POILoader. UK support said they would pass my request onto the developers. Still no response after a month |

Because I have a garmin streetpilot 2720 I have been using the beta POIloader and .wav files . Reading this thread I thought whoopee I can go to latest poiloader and still have talking warnings so being foolhardy I downloaded it .
Then downloaded the speed camera database down again and went for a drive past my local gatso.
It may work for some but it screwed my 2720 up royally . I dont seem able to drive on roads now but in the space between roads . And there are no POIs showing on the screen at all so no sound either .
Back to betaPOILoader for me . _________________ Asus Zenfone 2 twin sim, Garmin Zumo 550, 660 and pocketgps speed camera database

I had a ponder on this and decided to try again ,but first I will remove all pois via poiloader .
I do remember that when I started using the Beta version that I had to delete all because they must be a different format and they were clashing with each other.
Having done this I can now see the pois on the map so its out again to drive past my local gatso to see if cynthia tells me all about it. _________________ Asus Zenfone 2 twin sim, Garmin Zumo 550, 660 and pocketgps speed camera database

Thats it . It works
So for all those that dont have mp3 on their garmin satnavs .
Use .wav sound files , name them the same as the data files and .bmp files.
Download sox.exe to garmin directory
Then you can use the latest POILoader
If it works on my 2720 it should work on most other units that support sounds
Oh and by the way I use ash's camera manager software (donated) cos it also supports putting voices to each camera type .
Superb , no more mucking about with beta progs
Thanks all for this thread.
Bought me right up to date

Done what, exactly?
You have to put the mp3 into the same directory as your Speed Camera Database and then upload the lot using POILoader. You also have to make sure the mp3 has the same name as the file you want to alert for.
i.e. if you have the following files
pocketgps_uk_gatso.csv
pocketgps_uk_gatso.bmp
then you need to name the mp3 you wish to use as
pocketgps_uk_gatso.mp3
same again for
pocketgps_uk_mobile.csv
pocketgps_uk_mobile.bmp
make
pocketgps_uk_mobile.mp3
etc
Then upload all these using POILoader. |

Did the conversions for Garmin NUVI 760, renamed and they worked fine. Thedn downloaded Ash Camera manager, redid mp3 files to match the files that POI loader was sending but back to beep, not over worried but interested in why, is it to do with different file formats that camera manager creates noit csv s ? |
