Used the 760 on the way home from work this evening with no problems, turning it off when I got home, about 1 1/2 hours ago. Am in the process of planning a trip, so fetched the Nuvi to check some roads, and it now won't turn on.

I've tried plugging it in to the PC as well as trying it back on the cradle in the car, all to no avail. Anyone had this problem before, or have any suggestions as to how I might get it to turn on again?

ETA Don't worry, twiddled the on/off switch a few times and it has now decided to burst in to life. Very strange.

I have had the same problem twice now.
The only way to resolve it so far was to connec the nüvi 760 to the PC by USB and move the on lever to on for at least 8 sec.
It does not always come on, but after some time it does.

Thinkignof giving it back for a new one as there is still warranty.

Happens to me if I leave the nüvi mounted in the car during hot days.

Anyone else have the same problem?

I just had the same problem and Crouch's solution fixed it.

There must be a thermal cut-off to prevent damage since I also left mine in a hot car before this problem. I didn't try holding it On for 8 seconds before connecting to a PC, but at least I know that works.

Interestingly this happened to me the other day after a good charge on a mains charger. It took a minute of two before i remembered the advise about holding the switch to the right and it worked...

Wonder if it got too hot charging?
