Hi Pocket GPS World & Readers.
A few weeks have passed from taking ownership of a GPS system, (Navman 4410, Smart ST V2) & an Ipaq 2210. Reading your forums I came upon an article about BT receivers going U/S only after its first or so charges. “Some thing to do about, over charging and similar components, used for the antennas in various models”. The Navman has no rechargeable cell or recharge. It comes with 3 alkaline cells and a car power cord, which according to the handbook will not recharge any NiMH or NiCad cells. (They have to be charged by other means if used).
My question is: - Has anyone experienced the above problem with a Navman BT.
Also can anyone put my mind at rest? I am slowly accepting the GPS routes that it sets up for me. But it tends to send me up single track roads and to the “back of beyond and back”. The reason for owning a GPS is I travel a lot with my job, also I want to use it in Europe for Holidays. This year France & the Dordogne. Problem is, friends are coming with us and they are towing an 8m caravan, so single track roads and to the “back of beyond and back” are not advisable. Have I missed something out in setting up the SmartST, as I can only find Quickest or Shortest available or do I need to use different software to overcome this? I was under the impression that I could input a route and just follow the directions. To date we have used Windows Auto Route, pre planned route with hard copies. Ok if you do not get diverted.
You can have a good laugh if you like, but any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks. DRP

You may want to try other software that is more suitable for caravans and RVs - for example CoPilot has such a routing option.
